How do you play 2048?

What is the best 2048 strategy?
Pick a corner and keep your biggest tile there. Build your larger tiles in a descending chain along one edge, avoid swiping in the direction that pulls the big tile out of its corner, and keep open space so new tiles cannot lock the board. If one move goes wrong, Undo restores it.
Can you keep playing after reaching 2048?
Yes. Reaching the 2048 tile completes the classic goal, but you can keep going — the tiles keep doubling: 4096, 8192 and beyond. The game only ends when the board is full and no two neighbouring tiles can merge.
What is the highest possible tile in 2048?
On the classic 4×4 board the theoretical limit is the 131,072 tile, which would take a near-perfect game with very lucky tiles. For most players, carrying on to 4096 or 8192 after reaching 2048 is already an excellent run.
