How do you play Spades?
All 52 cards are dealt to four players in two partnerships. Each player bids how many of the thirteen tricks they expect to win, then play goes round: follow the suit that was led if you can, and the highest card of that suit wins the trick — unless somebody who could not follow plays a spade, because spades are trumps and beat every other suit. A beginner tip for bidding: count one trick for each ace, each protected king, and each spade beyond your third — that simple formula lands surprisingly close.
What does bidding Nil mean?
Bidding Nil is a promise to win no tricks at all. Make it and your team scores 100; take even one trick and it loses 100. It is worth trying on a hand with no aces, no unprotected kings and no high spades. Your partner bids normally and their contract is scored separately.
What are bags?
Every trick your team takes beyond its bid is a bag, worth one point at the time. Collect ten bags across a game and a hundred points come off. That is why deliberately bidding low is not a safe strategy — it quietly builds a penalty.
Can I play Spades full screen?
Yes. The full-screen button takes the table over the whole screen and the cards grow with it — big and easy to read. It works on desktop and on phones, and you can leave full screen with the button or the Escape key.
Does it work on Windows 11, Mac and phones?

Do I play against people or the computer?
Against the computer. Your partner and both opponents are computer players, so you can stop mid-hand, take your time over a bid, and come back later without keeping anyone waiting. There are no leaderboards and nothing is compared against other players.
