Puzzle games
Puzzles you solve by thinking a few steps ahead. Hungry Little Snake is the first: a grid of tasty little pictures, one hungry snake, and a single line that passes through every picture once. Thirty levels take you from a gentle warm-up to big boards with flags, fences, numbers, keys, coloured rooms and bridges.

Why play puzzle games here
Every level has a route through it, and one new idea at a time. The first five are plain boards that grow from fifteen pictures to fifty; from level 6 a new rule arrives — a start flag, fences, numbers in order, keys and locks, coloured rooms, bridges — and later levels put them together. A step that breaks a rule is simply not taken, and the game tells you which rule it was.
There is no clock. When the snake has nowhere left to go its head rings red: drag back, or tap its body to go back to there, and try another way. The snake grows longer and plumper with every bite, a tune plays along with each step adding a note, and the levels you clear are saved in this browser.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Hungry Little Snake?
Press any picture to start the snake there, then drag it to a picture beside it: up, down, left or right, never diagonally, and never across an empty square. It eats each picture it reaches. Guide it through every picture exactly once, all in one line, to clear the level.
What if the snake has nowhere left to go?
Its head rings red. Drag back along its body to take steps back, tap a picture on its body to go back to there, or press a picture away from it to start a new line from that one. There is no clock and no limit on tries.
What do the flags, numbers and keys mean?
A green flag is where the snake must start, and a chequered flag is its very last stop. Numbered pictures are eaten in order, starting on 1 and finishing on the highest. A padlock opens once the snake has passed the key of the same colour.
How do fences, coloured rooms and bridges work?
The snake cannot cross a fence between two squares. Once it goes into a room ringed in colour, it eats the whole room before it leaves. A bridge is crossed twice, once side to side and once up and down, going straight across each time: the snake cannot start on a bridge or turn on it.
How do I get to the next level?
Clearing a level opens the next one, and the arrows take you back to any level you have opened. The levels you have cleared are saved in this browser.
Can I play on my phone?
Yes. It runs in the browser on phones, tablets and computers, with nothing to install. On a tall screen the board turns round when that makes its squares bigger.
