Chess
Move your pieces, capture the computer’s, and checkmate its king.
How to play
- Choose a computer — Easy, Hard or Master — and whether you go first with white or second with black.
- Tap one of your pieces: the squares it can move to are marked. Tap one of them to move there.
- Move onto an enemy piece to capture it. A pawn that reaches the far side becomes a queen.
- Attack the king so it cannot escape — checkmate — to win. A game can also end in a draw, or with the computer resigning.
What it trains
- Thinking ahead on every move: what each piece attacks, what is left undefended, and what the other side is planning.
- Three computers to choose from: Easy for a first win, Hard that looks two moves ahead, and Master, which looks five and more.
- Every move has a soft sound of its own, and one button turns the sound off.
Play chess online in your browser against the computer, with every rule of the game: castling, en passant, promotion, check, checkmate and the draws. White moves first; choose whether you play white or black, and choose the computer: Easy, Hard or Master. Tap a piece to see where it can go, then tap the square to move it.
